Heavy Equipment Field Mechanic

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Field Mechanic position is the backbone of the Marks C&G Equipment Division. The mechanic is responsible for maintaining the fleet, including repair of construction equipment (primarily earthmoving), component assemblies, identifying parts needs, diagnosing, parts ordering, technical report writing, warranty reporting, maintaining care of company assets, and proper communication with others.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

The Field Mechanic directly reports to and is accountable to the Equipment Maintenance Manager.

REQUIREMENTS:

A. EDUCATION

  1. Minimum of five (5) years job-related experience
  2. Experience with engines, transmissions, electrical, hydraulic, suspension, Tier 4 and brake systems
  3. Knowledge of heavy equipment parts and performance requirements
  4. Advanced education or training in electronic computerized diagnostic systems and equipment (preferred)
  5. Mechanical aptitude and ability to prioritize tasks
  6. Ability to read, interpret, and comprehend service manuals
  7. Proficient in using hand and power tools, welding, and flame-cutting equipment
  8. Valid CDL Class A or B

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Maintain a clean, safe work truck
  2. Determining necessary parts, materials, tooling, etc.
  3. Performing repairs properly and safely, with proper quality assurance testing of repair components or system and machine
  4. Follow a weekly repair schedule as directed
  5. Accurately record time, materials, problem, cause, remedy, and VMRS codes
  6. Retrieves and returns parts and/or materials through the Company Storeroom
  7. Adhere to the Marks C&G culture of teamwork, dedication, and safety
  8. Follows all company policies and procedures
  9. Supplies own tools (outside of specialty tools)
  10. Support the company’s continuous improvement program (TPR)
  11. Uphold a high level of customer service

  1. Abide by all rules listed in the Marks C&G employee handbook.
  2. Ensure all Marks C&G quality standards are met.
  3. Ensure adherence to all federal, state, local, and Marks C&G Safety and Environmental Rules and Regulations.

Expected hours: 40 – 55 per week

Monday to Friday
Overtime
