“Treat the shop like an emergency room. Every day is triage.”
That’s the mindset Justin Smith brings to fleet management, and it’s why we’re glad to have him leading asset management at Marks.
As our Vice President of Asset Management, Justin combines decades of experience with a passion for building systems, supporting people, and keeping equipment where it belongs: in the field.
On a turnkey sitework job, we can’t treat equipment availability as a back office concern. It’s the difference between a crew that moves dirt today and a crew that waits. Every hour a machine sits in the shop is an hour a schedule slips, a grade doesn’t get built, and a client waits longer for the finished product.
Justin’s approach is built around that reality. Triage the work. Fix what stops production first. Build the systems and the preventive habits that keep the next breakdown from happening at all. And support the shop and fleet technicians who do that work every day, often before the sun is up.
That focus matters more as Marks grows. A larger fleet across more active jobsites raises the cost of every hour of downtime, and it’s also why getting asset management right matters more.
We’re proud to have Justin helping drive operational excellence at Marks, and grateful for the experience and leadership he brings to Team Marks. He joins a leadership team that’s grown quickly this year, following Morgan Beam’s arrival as VP of Business Development.
Welcome to #TeamMarks, Justin.
