Overview

Finishing a site takes the same focus as breaking ground.

Our fine grading crews and trusted trade partners deliver clean, durable curb, sidewalk and asphalt work that stands the test of time.

We understand local standards and requirements and work closely with inspectors, which helps get proof rolls approved quickly and keeps paving smooth from start to finish.

Because we are already on the site running the grading, the utilities and the trucking, the road section never waits on a mobilization. Stone shows up when the subgrade is ready, and paving follows the schedule instead of chasing it.

The Road Section

Every layer, on one schedule

Each layer is built on the one beneath it, so each one is checked before the next goes down. Same site, same team, same schedule.

Control

The two things that keep a road section moving

A Marks dump truck delivering stone on a new road section
Our Own Trucking

Stone arrives when the subgrade is ready

We run our own fleet of trucks, so base stone is not a phone call to a hauler and a two-day wait. It is a dispatch decision we make ourselves, on the same site, the same morning.

Quality

Proof rolls approved the first time

A failed proof roll costs days and credibility. We build the subgrade to hold, walk it with the inspector and fix problems before they become inspection findings.

Questions

Curb, stone & asphalt FAQ

What does the curb, stone and asphalt scope include?

Fine grading, aggregate stone base, concrete curb and gutter, valley gutter, sidewalk, and asphalt base and surface lifts, along with roadway widening and offsite DOT tie-ins.

Does Marks haul its own stone?

Yes. Marks runs its own trucks, so base stone is dispatched when the subgrade is ready instead of waiting on an outside hauler.

How does Marks handle proof rolls and inspections?

We build the subgrade to hold, walk it with the inspector and fix issues before they become findings. Knowing local standards helps proof rolls get approved quickly.

Who places the curb, sidewalk and asphalt?

Marks fine grading crews prepare the road section, and trusted trade partners place curb, sidewalk and asphalt on the same schedule.

Can Marks handle roadway widening and DOT tie-ins?

Yes. Magnolia Forest included major roadway widening with curb, gutter, asphalt and offsite DOT tie-ins, and Rolesville Crossing included widening of Mitchell Mill and Rolesville roads with full right-of-way restoration.

Where does Marks build road sections?

Throughout Greater Raleigh-Durham and the Carolinas, from our headquarters in Wendell, North Carolina.
